Hufflepuff Agender 22 Nerdfighter (trying out they/them pronouns). Fandoms, SJ, stuff I think is cool. I have a sideblog at baby-things, and my personal tag is #StephaniDFTBA (I tag special stuff and also track it). Anon is always on if you ever want to talk about anything :) I won't judge or guilt you.
I have spoken before about the Platoon of Power Squadron (PoPS), and I have no shame in doing so again.
For those that have not seen PoPS, I strongly encourage you to check it out. It is a funny, and dark, and all round incredible web series produced independently by a group of a friends in the Chicago area.
It is funded by fans (and out of the creators own pockets), and it is time to get the funding sorted for Season 9.
I have yet to introduce someone to PoPS who hasn’t fell in love with the show (OK, not true, one guy just thoroughly enjoyed it), but even if it is not your jam, I implore you to at least check these guys out and consider supporting them on the grounds that they are a bunch of hardworking, insanely creative, good people that are helping to lead a revolution in how we share our stories.
The show also stars wheezytumblr's Wheezy Waiter, so if you are a beardlover, justice demands you support the show (beard justice!).
edwardspoonhands also once made an appearance, which I only mention because: Hank Green!

PoPS (Platoon of Power Squadron) is a super mega awesome web series. It’s about people, who also happen to have super powers. And it has a badass evil team.
I mean, I can’t even express with words how much I love this show, really you should just go check them out. Or, if you’re still dubious, check out a super quick trailer. I guarantee you’re not wasting time watching it.
Teachers are often unaware of the gender distribution of talk in their classrooms. They usually consider that they give equal amounts of attention to girls and boys, and it is only when they make a tape recording that they realize that boys are dominating the interactions. Dale Spender, an Australian feminist who has been a strong advocate of female rights in this area, noted that teachers who tried to restore the balance by deliberately ‘favouring’ the girls were astounded to find that despite their efforts they continued to devote more time to the boys in their classrooms. Another study reported that a male science teacher who managed to create an atmosphere in which girls and boys contributed more equally to discussion felt that he was devoting 90 per cent of his attention to the girls. And so did his male pupils. They complained vociferously that the girls were getting too much talking time.
In other public contexts, too, such as seminars and debates, when women and men are deliberately given an equal amount of the highly valued talking time, there is often a perception that they are getting more than their fair share. Dale Spender explains this as follows:
“The talkativeness of women has been gauged in comparison not with men but with silence. Women have not been judged on the grounds of whether they talk more than men, but of whether they talk more than silent women.”
In other words, if women talk at all, this may be perceived as ‘too much’ by men who expect them to provide a silent, decorative background in many social contexts.
I love the earthy colors in this outfit, but I didn’t really have anywhere to wear it so pictures will do. Also the manager of the local sushi place was so impressed with my shitty japanese that he gave me his number, that made my day lol.
